Pandit Bhimsen Joshi
⬧ Pandit Bhimsen Joshi was born on February 4, 1922.
⬧ He was awarded Bharat Ratna in the year 2009.
⬧ He is remembered for the famous ragas sung by him like Kalyan, Miyan Ki Todi, Puriya Dhanashree and Multan.
⬧ He belonged to ‘Kairana Gharana'.
⬧ Kairana Gharana takes its name from a small town called Kairana in Uttar Pradesh, which was founded by Ustad Abdul Karim Khan.
⬧ Famous artists like Abdul Wahid Khan, Suresh Babu Mane, Hira Bai Badodkar and Roshanara Begum belong to this gharana.
⬧ He belonged to the gharana of Hindustani classical music.
⬧ Bhimsen Joshi was awarded Padma Shri in the year 1972, Padma Bhushan in the year 1985 and Padma Vibhushan in the year 1999.
