Typography, color, white space, alignment, contrast — সবকিছু visual hierarchy serve করে।
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Visual Hierarchy | Design elements-কে importance অনুযায়ী visual ranking দেওয়া — যাতে audience-এর চোখ intentional order-এ information process করে: most important → supporting → details |
|---|---|---|
| 📰 Newspaper Front Page | Headline (বড়, bold) → Subheadline (মাঝারি) → Body text (ছোট) → Caption (সবচেয়ে ছোট) — instant importance ranking | Slide Title → Key Message → Body Text → Footer |
| 🏙️ City Skyline | Tallest building = most noticeable → Medium buildings → Small houses — height = prominence | Largest element = most important → Medium → Small |
| 🎭 Stage Performance | Spotlight on lead actor → Supporting actors visible but dimmer → Extras in background — light = attention | Hero element (bold, colored) → Supporting (medium) → Background (subtle) |
| 🗺️ Road Map | Highways (thick, red) → Main roads (medium, blue) → Small streets (thin, gray) — visual weight = importance | Primary info (large, accent) → Secondary (medium, brand) → Tertiary (small, gray) |

| 4 | 📊 Gestalt Principles | Brain patterns ও groups দেখতে চায় — proximity, similarity, continuity, closure | Similar elements = same group; different = different group → natural hierarchy |
| 5 | ⚡ Serial Position Effect | প্রথম ও শেষ items best remember হয় — middle items weaker | Most important info first (entry point) বা last (conclusion) position-এ রাখুন |
| 6 | 🔍 Visual Saliency | যেটা surroundings থেকে most different (salient) সেটায় চোখ আগে যায় | Accent color, large size, bold weight = high saliency = first noticed |

| 🟡 Primary | 30% Brand Color — strong, identifiable | Dark 2 (#3A5A3C) titles / Accent 1 (#638766) shapes | Strong presence — brand identity carrier |
| 🟢 Secondary | Dark neutral — readable, not dominant | #444444 / #666666 — body text | Readable but doesn't compete with hero/primary |
| ⚪ Tertiary | Light neutral — subtle, background | #999999 / #AAAAAA — captions, footnotes | There if needed, not prominent — visual whisper |
| 👻 Background | Lightest / invisible | #CCCCCC / #E0E0E0 — gridlines, inactive dots | Barely visible — structural support only |
| Contrast Type | How It Creates Hierarchy | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Light vs Dark | Dark element on light bg = prominent; Light element on light bg = subtle | Dark 2 title (#3A5A3C) on White bg → clear; #999999 caption → subtle |
| Chromatic vs Achromatic | Colored element among gray/black elements = attention-grabbing | Gold KPI (#D4A574) among dark text → instant pop |

| Zone | Position | Attention Level | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| 🔴 Primary Optical Area (POA) | Top-Left quadrant | 🔴 Highest — eye lands here first | Slide title, key heading, primary message |
| 🟡 Strong Fallow Area | Top-Right quadrant | 🟡 High — second natural stop | Key number, supporting visual, secondary info |
| 🟢 Weak Fallow Area | Bottom-Left quadrant | 🟢 Medium — often skipped | Supporting details, secondary content |
| ⚪ Terminal Area | Bottom-Right quadrant | ⚪ Lowest — last seen | Footer, CTA, "next step", conclusion |
| 🎯 Center | Dead Center | 🎯 Special — hero position | Hero KPI number, key statement, single powerful visual (isolated) |
| ✅ Do | ❌ Don't |
|---|---|
| Most important info top/top-left (natural starting point) | Key message bottom-right-এ — audience miss করতে পারে |
| Hero element center (if only element on slide) | Hero element corner-এ — doesn't dominate |
| CTA / Next Step bottom-right (natural ending point) | CTA top-left-এ — feels like starting point, not action point |
| Footnotes/sources bottom (least important = least prominent position) | Source citation top — competes with title |
| Hierarchy Level | White Space Amount | Effect | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
50%+ empty | "Stage center" effect — unmissable, dramatic | Single KPI "₹2.5 Cr" centered, rest of slide empty |
| 🟡 Primary (Good Space) | চারদিকে 0.3-0.5" clear space | Prominent, breathable — clearly separated from neighbors | Slide title with clear gap below and generous margins |
| 🟢 Secondary (Moderate Space) | চারদিকে 0.15-0.3" space | Readable, organized — part of content flow | Body text bullets with standard line/paragraph spacing |
| ⚪ Tertiary (Compact) | চারদিকে 0.05-0.15" space | Compact but not cramped — reference info | Footer text, small captions, source citations |
| Proximity Level | Gap | Signal | Slide Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| Intimate (Same Unit) | 0.05-0.1" | "এগুলো একটি জিনিসের অংশ" | Icon + Label; Number + Unit ("₹" + "2.5 Cr") |
| Close (Same Group) | 0.1-0.25" | "এগুলো একই group-এর items" | Bullet points within same topic; Card's title + description |
| Related (Same Section) | 0.3-0.5" | "এগুলো related কিন্তু আলাদা groups" | Title vs Body content; Different bullet groups |
| Separated (Different Sections) | 0.5-0.8" | "এগুলো different categories/sections" | Left column vs Right column; Content vs Footer area |
| Isolated (Independent) | ≥1.0" | "এটি completely separate / hero" | Hero KPI alone; Logo in corner (isolated from content) |
| Alignment Type | Effect on Hierarchy | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| 🎯 Left Alignment | Strong, professional, readable — natural reading start point; creates strong left edge = visual anchor | 🎯 Default for most content — titles, body text, bullets |
| Center Alignment | Formal, dramatic, hero-focused — draws eye to center; symmetric feel | Title slides, section dividers, quotes, KPI numbers, closing slides |
| Right Alignment | Unique, modern — unexpected = attention; weak left edge = less readable for long text | Numbers/data (right-aligned in tables), captions, dates — short text only |
| Grid Concept | Description | Hierarchy Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Shared Edges | Multiple elements-এর left edges aligned — strong vertical line তৈরি হয় | Clean, organized — eye follows the alignment line downward |
| Column Grid | Slide-কে ২-৪ equal columns-এ divide করুন — content columns-এ place | Consistent layout — each column = content group |
| Baseline Grid | Text elements same baseline-এ aligned — horizontal harmony | Side-by-side elements look cohesive, not random |
| Breaking the Grid | Intentionally one element grid-এর বাইরে রাখা — stands out | 🎯 Advanced technique — hero element grid break করে = extra attention |
| Cue Type | Description | Hierarchy Effect | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| ➡️ Arrows | Explicit directional indicator — "from here to there" | Direct eye movement; show flow/process/sequence | Process diagram: Step 1 → Step 2 → Step 3 |
| 📏 Lines / Connectors | Visual connection between elements — "these are linked" | Create flow path; connect related items | Timeline line connecting events; accent line under title |
| 👆 Pointing / Gestures | Hands/fingers pointing toward content | Explicit "look here" signal | Illustration with character pointing at key data |
| 📐 Diagonal / Angular Elements | Diagonal lines/shapes create movement ও energy | Eye follows diagonal — dynamic flow | Diagonal accent bar guiding eye from top-left to bottom-right |
| 🔢 Numbered Sequence | Numbers (1, 2, 3) = explicit reading order | No ambiguity — audience knows exact sequence | "01" → "02" → "03" process steps |
| 🎨 Color Trail | Same accent color on sequential elements = implied path | Eye follows the color "breadcrumbs" | Gold accent on Step 1 title → Step 2 title → Step 3 title |
| Level | Name | Size | Weight | Color | Space Around | Elements |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| L1 | 🔴 Hero | 48-72pt | Bold | Accent 4 (#D4A574) বা Dark 2 | Maximum (≥1.0") | KPI number, key statement, hero image |

| L5 | 👻 Meta | 10-13pt | Regular/Light | #999999 | Compact (0.05-0.1") | Footer, slide number, source, caption, footnote |
| Rule | Details | |
|---|---|---|
| 🎯 Max 3-4 Levels per Slide | একটি slide-এ সব ৫ level ব্যবহার করবেন না — ৩-৪ levels sufficient | Too many levels = too complex; brain can handle 3-4 visual layers |
| L1 Hero = Max 1 per Slide | একটি slide-এ শুধু ১টি hero element — ২ heroes = no hero | "If everything screams, nothing is heard" |
| Clear Level Jumps | Adjacent levels-এ clearly different size/weight/color — gradual ≠ hierarchy | 36pt Bold vs 18pt Regular = clear; 24pt vs 20pt = unclear |
| Consistent Levels | L2 = 36pt SemiBold throughout entire presentation | Audience learns the system — "36pt Bold = title" becomes automatic |
| Slide Type | Hero (L1) | Primary (L2) | Supporting (L3-L4) | Meta (L5) | Hierarchy Strategy |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 🏷️ Title Slide | Presentation Title (44-60pt Bold) | — | Subtitle, Date, Presenter (16-20pt) | Logo | Title dominates; subtitle supports; maximum white space |

| Pattern | Eye Path | Best For | PowerPoint Application | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 🎯 Z-Pattern | Top-Left → Top-Right → Diagonal ↘ → Bottom-Left → Bottom-Right | 🎯 Minimal slides — Title, Section Divider, KPI, Quote (few elements) | Title (top-left) → Key visual (top-right) → Supporting (bottom-left) → CTA (bottom-right) | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ |
| 🎯 F-Pattern | Top (full scan) → Left side scan downward → Occasional right glances | 🎯 Text-heavy slides — Content slides with bullets, lists, paragraphs | Title (full width scan) → Body text (left-aligned, scan downward) → Key points left-aligned | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ |

| Center-Out Pattern | Center → Outward in all directions | Hero-centered slides — single prominent center element | Center KPI/Quote → Supporting info around edges | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ |
| Slide Content | Best Pattern | |
|---|---|---|
| Few elements (2-4) — Title, KPI, Quote, Section Divider | 🎯 Z-Pattern | Few elements = eye follows Z naturally — top-left to bottom-right |
| Text-heavy — Content slide with bullets, lists | 🎯 F-Pattern | Text = left-to-right reading → eye scans top then left edge |
| Single hero element — KPI number, powerful quote | Center-Out | Center placement = maximum attention for single hero |
| Grid/dashboard — multiple equal items | Gutenberg | Balanced distribution — top-left most noticed, bottom-right last |
| 60-30-10 Component | Hierarchy Level | Connection |
|---|---|---|
| 60% Dominant (White/Light bg) | L5 Background / Canvas | 60% area = visual foundation — lowest hierarchy, highest area — creates the stage for content |
| 30% Secondary (Brand Color) | L2-L4 Primary to Body | 30% area = main content — titles, shapes, charts, body text — the "actors on stage" |
| 10% Accent (Warm Gold) | L1 Hero | 10% area = highest hierarchy — key numbers, CTAs, highlights — the "spotlight" |
| Connection Point | Explanation |
|---|---|
| 🎯 White Space = Hierarchy Amplifier | More white space around element = higher perceived importance — space is the "frame" that makes the "painting" prominent |
| Grouping Through Space | White space amounts define groups (tight = same group) ও separate categories (wide = different) — hierarchy through proximity |
| Breathing Room = Clarity | Sufficient white space = each hierarchy level clearly distinguishable — without space, levels merge |
| Cognitive Load Balance | White space reduces cognitive load → brain can focus on hierarchy signals (size, color, weight) rather than decoding clutter |
| Isolation = Hero Power | Hero element + maximum white space = strongest possible hierarchy — nothing competes, everything supports |
| Test | How | Pass ✅ | Fail ❌ |
|---|---|---|---|
| 🎯 3-Second Test | Slide ৩ seconds দেখুন → main message কী? | Instantly clear — "ওহ, revenue grew 47%!" | Confused — "কোনটা important? সব same লাগছে" |
| Eye goes to most important element first | Eye goes to decoration/random element / confused where to start |
| 🔢 Counting Test | Slide-এ কতটি distinct hierarchy levels আছে? | ৩-৪ clear levels — each visually distinct | ১-২ levels (flat) বা ৫+ levels (too complex) |
| Most important element still stands out when blurred | Everything blurs to same — no element dominates |
| Natural flow: Title → Key Point → Details → Source | Random — eye jumps around; no clear reading path |
| # | Check | ✅ Pass | ❌ Fail → Fix |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Clear entry point exists? | One element is obviously first | Make one element largest/boldest/most colorful |
| 2 | Only 1 hero element per slide? | Single dominant element | Demote competing elements — only 1 hero |
| 3 | ৩-৪ hierarchy levels (not more)? | Clear, manageable levels | Merge similar levels; remove unnecessary ones |
| 4 | Clear size jumps between levels? | ≥1.5× size difference between levels | Increase size contrast between levels |
| 5 | Color supports hierarchy? | Accent on hero; brand on primary; neutral on body | Reassign colors to match importance levels |
| 6 | Typography weight varies by level? | Bold for important; Regular for body; Light for meta | Apply weight differentiation |
| 7 | White space supports hierarchy? | More space around important elements | Add space around hero; tighten less important |
| 8 | Consistent levels across presentation? | Same style for same level on every slide | Standardize — all titles same size/weight/color |
| # | Violation | কী হয় | Fix |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 🔴 "Flat Slide" — সব elements same size/weight/color | No hierarchy — audience doesn't know what's important; "democratic design" = chaos | Clear level differentiation: hero (large+bold+accent) → primary → body → meta |
| 2 | 🔴 "Multiple Heroes" — ২-৩ elements same visual weight | Competing for attention — brain confused; "if everything screams..." | Choose ONE hero; demote others — only 1 largest/boldest element per slide |
| 3 | 🔴 "Wrong Hero" — decoration prominent, content subtle | Eye goes to decorative element instead of key message | Content > Decoration; make message visually dominant; tone down decorations |
| 4 | 🟡 "Subtle Levels" — differences too small (24pt vs 22pt) | Levels blur — hierarchy exists but audience can't perceive it | ≥1.5× size jump; combine multiple tools (size + weight + color) for clear distinction |
| 5 | 🟡 "Inconsistent System" — different hierarchy on each slide | Audience can't learn the pattern — each slide = new puzzle | Slide Master-enforced consistent levels; same style = same meaning throughout |
| 6 | 🟡 "Accent Everywhere" — accent color on 5+ elements | Accent = meaningless; nothing highlighted because everything highlighted | Accent on max 1-3 elements per slide — only truly important items |
| 7 | 🟢 "No Entry Point" — eye doesn't know where to start | Audience wastes 2-3 seconds finding starting point → key seconds lost | Create clear entry point: largest element top-left বা center |
| 8 | 🟢 "Footer Competing" — footer same visual weight as body | Footer draws unnecessary attention; competes with content | Footer = L5 Meta: smallest size, lightest color, most subtle |
| Rule # | Rule | Details |
|---|---|---|
| VH1 | One Hero per Slide: শুধু ১টি element সবচেয়ে prominent | ২ heroes = no hero; ১ hero = clear message |
| VH2 | Clear Entry Point: Audience-এর চোখ সর্বপ্রথম hero element-এ যায় | Largest + Boldest + Most Colorful = Entry Point |
| VH3 | Max 3-4 Levels per Slide: Hero → Primary → Body → Meta | Too many levels = complex; too few = flat |
| VH4 | ≥1.5× Size Jump: Adjacent levels-এ clear size difference | 36pt vs 18pt = clear ✅; 24pt vs 20pt = unclear ❌ |
| VH5 | Multiple Tools Combine: Important elements-এ ≥৩ tools (size + color + weight + space) | One tool = weak signal; ৩+ tools = unmissable |
| VH6 | Color Supports Hierarchy: Accent = Hero; Brand = Primary; Neutral = Body; Light = Meta | Color proportion inversely correlates with hierarchy level |
| VH7 | White Space Supports Hierarchy: More space = more important | Hero isolated; body moderate; meta compact |
| VH8 | Consistent Levels: Same level = same visual treatment throughout presentation | All L2 titles = 36pt SemiBold Dark 2 — no exceptions |
| VH9 | Content > Decoration: Content always higher hierarchy than decorative elements | Decorations should never draw more attention than the message |
| VH10 | Natural Flow: Hierarchy follows eye scanning pattern (Z/F/Gutenberg) | Important info in high-attention zones; meta in low-attention zones |
| VH11 | Proximity = Relationship: Close = related; far = separate | Space amounts signal content relationships |
| VH12 | 3-Second Test: Main message identifiable within ৩ seconds | If audience can't identify key point in 3s → hierarchy needs work |
| # | Best Practice | |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | ৩-৪ hierarchy levels maintain করুন — Hero, Primary, Body, Meta | Manageable complexity — brain easily ৩-৪ layers process করে |
| 3 | Adjacent levels-এ ≥1.5× size difference রাখুন | Clear distinction — audience immediately different levels চিনতে পারে |
| 4 | Important elements-এ ≥৩ hierarchy tools combine করুন (size + color + weight + space) | Multiple signals = unmissable — one tool = might miss |
| 5 | Accent color (10%) শুধু hero/highest hierarchy elements-এ ব্যবহার করুন | Accent = rare = powerful — everywhere = meaningless |
| 6 | Hero elements-এর চারপাশে generous white space রাখুন | Isolation = prominence — space amplifies importance |
| 7 | Same hierarchy level = same visual treatment throughout presentation | Audience learns the system — automatic recognition |
| 8 | Content-কে always decoration-এর উপরে hierarchy দিন | Message > Aesthetics — pretty but confusing = failed design |
| 9 | Eye scanning patterns (Z/F) অনুসরণ করে elements place করুন | Natural flow — audience effortlessly reads in intended order |
| 10 | Footer/meta information smallest + lightest + most subtle রাখুন | Meta info there if needed but never competes with content |
| 11 | 3-Second Test প্রতিটি slide-এ করুন — main message instantly clear? | If not clear in 3s → hierarchy needs improvement |
| 12 | Slide Master-এ hierarchy levels pre-define করুন (placeholder sizes, colors, weights) | Automatic consistency — every new slide inherits proper hierarchy |
| 13 | Related items কাছে রাখুন (proximity); unrelated items দূরে (separation) | Natural grouping — hierarchy through spatial relationships |
| 14 | Presentation শুরুর আগে hierarchy system document করুন — "L1=this, L2=this..." | Reference guide — consistency even across team members |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | "Flat Design" — সব elements same size, weight, color | No hierarchy — audience "কোনটা important?" বুঝতে পারে না | Clear differentiation: hero (large+bold+accent) → primary → body → meta |
| 2 | Multiple heroes — ২-৩ elements competing for attention | Brain confused — attention split; no clear message | ONE hero per slide; demote competitors to primary/secondary |
| 3 | Decoration > Content — fancy graphics more prominent than message | Eye goes to decoration, not content — message lost | Content always dominant; decorations subtle, supporting |
| 4 | Subtle size differences — 24pt vs 22pt vs 20pt | Levels blur — hierarchy exists on paper but invisible to audience | ≥1.5× size jump; combine size + weight + color for clear distinction |
| 5 | Inconsistent levels — title 36pt on slide 3, 28pt on slide 7 | Audience can't learn pattern — each slide = new puzzle | Standardize: same level = same visual treatment always |
| 6 | Accent color on everything — ৫+ accent elements per slide | Accent meaningless — nothing highlighted because everything highlighted | Max 1-3 accent elements per slide — only truly important |
| 7 | No entry point — eye doesn't know where to start | ৩ seconds wasted finding start → key message time lost | Clear entry point: one element obviously largest/boldest |
| 8 | Footer same visual weight as body text | Footer competes with content — unnecessary attention | Footer = smallest + lightest — L5 Meta treatment |
| 9 | Important info in low-attention zones (bottom-right) | Key message in weakest position — audience may miss it | Important info top-left বা center; meta info bottom |
| 10 | ৫+ hierarchy levels on one slide | Too complex — brain can't distinguish ৫+ visual layers simultaneously | Max ৩-৪ levels per slide; merge similar levels |
| 11 | Only using one hierarchy tool (e.g., only size, nothing else) | Weak hierarchy — single tool may not be enough for clear distinction | Combine ≥৩ tools: size + weight + color + space |
| 12 | 3-Second Test না করা — "আমার কাছে clear" | Creator bias — you know the content; audience doesn't | 3-Second Test + Entry Point Test — objective validation |
|---|---|

Visual Hierarchy হলো presentation design-এর সবচেয়ে fundamental ও transformative principle — এটি audience-এর চোখকে intentionally guide করে most important information থেকে supporting details পর্যন্ত।
