    International Forest Day: Celebrating the Importance of Forests

    ⬧ The United Nations General Assembly declared 21 March as the International Forest Day in 2012 to raise awareness about the importance of all types of forests.
    ⬧ Countries are encouraged to make local, national and international efforts to organize activities related to forests and trees, such as tree planting campaigns.

    ⬧ Sustainable management of forests and the use of their resources is critical to combating climate change and contributing to the prosperity and well-being of present and future generations.
    ⬧ Forests also play an important role in poverty alleviation and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
    ⬧ The theme for the year 2023 is "Forests and health".
