    Colonel James Tod: Pioneer of Rajasthan's History and Culture

    ⬧ Colonel James Tod was an officer of the British East India Company.
    ⬧ He was born on March 20, 1782 at a place called 'Inslington' in England.
    ⬧ He served on the post of 'Lieutenant' in the British Army.
    ⬧ Tod reached the camp of 'Daulat Rao Scindia' in 1805 AD by becoming an officer in the army of his friend 'Graeme Merson'.
    ⬧ When Lord Hastings started the war against the Pindaris, the English army got help from Todd in many ways.
    ⬧ Resident Sir Richard Strachey appointed him as his second assistant.
    ⬧ From 1818 to 1822, Tod was the Political Agent of Western Rajputana.
    ⬧ Maharana Bhim Singh of Mewar made many reforms in his state with his advice.
    ⬧ While going to Jodhpur in 1819 AD, Tod collected many inscriptions and coins which are very useful for history.
    ⬧ Maharaj of Jodhpur also presented many books of Rajput history to Colonel Tod.
    ⬧ Tod went back to England after living in India for 24 years.
    ⬧ In 1824 he got the rank of Major and in 1826 he got the rank of 'Lieutenant Colonel'.
