    Habitual actions

    Universal truths and proverbs

    The sun sets in the west.

    Every potter praises his pot.

    Near feature actions and announcements

    The train arrives in ten minutes.

    They leave for Mumbai next week.

    Present continuous tense is used to express

    An activity in progress at the time of speaking

    They are playing cricket now.

    She is reading a book

    An action that will take place in the near future

    The president of America is visiting India shortly.

    My friend is leaving for Delhi next week.

    Certain verbs are not normally used in the continuous

    Love, hate, smell, want, dislike, like, forget, remember, understand, notice, feel, see, hear, recollect, known, believe, wish, mind, value, etc.

    She is just completed her work.

    An action that began in the past and is going on at (incomplete) present
