Mastering Pronouns: Types, Functions, and Usage in English

Pronouns are words that represent nouns (people, places, or things). Grammatically, pronouns are used in the same ways as nouns; they can function as subjects or objects. Common pronouns include I, you, she, him, it, everyone, and somebody.

A pronoun can replace a noun or another pronoun. We can use a pronoun instead of a noun. Pronouns are words like: he, you, ours, themselves, some, each... If we didn't have pronouns, the sentence would become cumbersome and repetitive. We would have to say things like:
